Even the smallest generators will have to help manage the system in future. The change should reduce costs overall, but may increase costs for some generators. For some it means new product standards, for others it
means active participation. Where will the lines be drawn?
Distributed generation installations will have to provide some minimum system services such as frequency response in future, in a change required by new EU market rules that could prove costly for some distributed generators.
