Despite the low price achieved by the CM auction the UK remains “the only big market [for gas turbines] in western Europe", Laurent Cornu, product manager for GE’s new 9HA turbine, told New Power. At around 600MW that turbine is the largest the company has ever made and it does have more attractive characteristics for changing needs: higher efficiency, faster ramp up and startup, and the ability to operate at very low power levels.
