RJM International has completed front-end engineering design to convert Uskmouth B to run on waste-derived energy pellets after eight months of tests and studies to arrive at a firing system that will deliver a stable flame and the right combustion characteristics. Owner SIMEC Atlantis Energy is aiming for fuel conversion on two of the three units, totalling 220MWe. The project will cost £185 million and will be operational by 2021.
