Uniper submits planning application for green hydrogen production at Killlingholme

Uniper has submitted a planning application for a proposed electrolytic hydrogen production facility of up to 120MW to (NLC), with potential for further expansion.
The project, called Humber H2ub®, will produce hydrogen to replace some refinery fuel gas in industrial scale fired heaters, as part of Phillips 66 Limited’s plans to reduce the Humber Refinery’s Scope 1 operational emissions.
The planning application (ref PA/2025/1146) and Environmental Statement are open for public comments via North Lincolnshire Council’s planning portal.
Guy Phillips, Team Lead, Business Development Hydrogen for Uniper in the UK, said: “This is an important next step towards getting the necessary permission to construct this facility at our Killingholme site. The availability of low carbon hydrogen will be essential to retaining industry in the Humber region and for economic growth.”
