Bristol energy retrofit scheme promises area-by-area housing upgrades

Bristol City Leap, a joint venture between Bristol City Council and Ameresco, has launched a £25 million retrofit project aimed at improving energy efficiency within social housing in areas of North Bristol.
This retrofit project, which will be implemented by March 2028, is set to upgrade homes in Henbury, Brentry, Avonmouth, and Lawrence Weston. The project will targeting specific areas and streets with tailored designs.
By retrofitting existing properties to achieve a minimum Energy Performance Certificate rating of C, the programme aims to deliver measures such as external and cavity wall insulation, improved glazing and external doors, enhanced ventilation systems, solar PV and energy-efficient heat pumps, insulation and energy-efficient lighting
The area-based retrofit programme aims to address fuel poverty and prioritises local engagement.
