Offshore Catapult wants university partner to launch ‘electrical infrastructure’ research hub

The Offshore Renewable Energy (ORE) Catapult is looking for a UK-based university partner for electrical infrastructure R&D relating to offshore renewable technologies. The aim is to  combine academic and industry skills and resources to better respond to industry’s needs.

The Catapult already has a wind blade ‘research hub’, set up in June 2017 in partnership with the University of Bristol. Electrical infrastructures would be a second hub.

The new Hub will have a five-year investment of around £700k from ORE Catapult and should address:

  • component reliability and availability;
  • system and sub-system optimisation;
  • smart energy systems of the future (including storage).

To download the guidance and application documents, visit ORE Catapult’s website .

The deadline for application submissions is 20 February. Candidates will be shortlisted for interview by 2 March and the university will be selected on 29 March.
