Northumbrian Water to receive power direct from three new PV arrays

Investment manager Downing and specialist solar developer and consultancy Ennoviga Solar Limited have joined forces to develop and construct five ground-mounted solar farms to serve Northumbrian Water.
Downing is investing £3.7 million in the project, its first solar asset commissioned by a UK regulated utility company. Power from the 5.7MWp of solar farms will be delivered directly to NWL operational assets.
Anthony Browne, energy and decarbonisation manager at Northumbria Water, said: “Solar power is a key component of our industry-leading Net Zero 2027 commitment. NWL are the first and only water company to use 100% of our sewage waste to produce green energy and we already have nine hydroelectric power stations at our sites”.
