ASA acts on misleading claims for small heating appliances

The ASA has upheld complaints that four separate companies had wrongly advertised that their portable heaters could save consumers money on their heating bills.
Ecomm Movadgency SL’s Heater Pro X, Ecom7 Ltd’s Heater Pro, Keilini Technology lnternational’s Kelini Portable Heater and Label Products’ InstaHeat were typically advertised with claims such as “an incredible efficiency. Almost no energy is wasted”, “It heats every area in your room in just 60 seconds”, “turn off your central heating”, “cheap heat”, ”powerful house heater” and “alternative to gas”,
The ASA told all the companies not to state or imply that their mini heaters provided a viable alternative to gas central heating or that it provided economical, cheap or powerful heating.
