Homeowners offered heat pump combinations with PV or EV chargers

Mitsubishi Electric has partnered with Irish tech company EVHACS to launch a single, compact unit with a heat pump for heating and cooling spaces and an electric vehicle (EV) charger.
The partners say the integrated system will allow homeowners, property developers, and commercial operators to simplify installations, allowing for faster deployment, lower total system costs, and minimal impact on building aesthetics. They say that by intelligently sharing available electrical capacity between heating, cooling and EV charging functions, the system helps prevent overload, avoids costly grid upgrades and ensures optimal performance even during peak demand.
The all-in-one format is aimed at retrofits, apartments, townhouses, and commercial buildings where external wall space or electrical capacity might otherwise limit the ability to install multiple systems.
Meanwhile, domestic users are being offered a heat pump from Stiebel Eltron combined with Solarwatt’s solar panel technology, and smart energy management systems in a single package.
The intelligent control system allows the heat pump to automatically optimise energy consumption in response to changing weather conditions to utilise energy generated from Solarwatt’s solar panels more effectively.
The management systems also allow the homeowner to use app to power large appliances, hold onto stored energy and draw grid power when it suits, the companies say.
