Construction company Evolution, which operates across the North of England from its Blackpool base, has installed 585 solar panels totalling 249kW on the roof of Gorton Market in Manchester.
Managing Director JJ Fitzgerald said: “Sustainability and finding new ways of working to leave positive impacts on communities is what drives us as a business. This is a project we are particularly proud of. This investment in clean, green electricity will significantly reduce carbon emissions and help create a more sustainable future for the community.
The company said Gorton Market was ‘a statement project’ for Evolution, which wants to expand its renewables division of its business.
Fitzgerald said: “With this project people will be able to see that we apply the same standards and the same ethos to the solar side of our business, and we look forward to delivering for even more satisfied customers.”
Evolution has already switched its offices at Blackpool Airport Enterprise Zone to solar power, where the company’s own team fitted 46 photovoltaic panels to the roof.
The panels provide enough energy to power Evolution’s offices, which host 12 members of staff, as well as its fleet of electric vehicles.
