Ground source heat network planned for new Cardiff development

Wates Residential has contracted UK Power Solutions to deliver a ground source heat network for 235 new homes in Cardiff. located at the former Michaelston Community College site.
UKPS (a subsidiary of Last Mile Group) will see the company and its subcontractor Rendesco deliver a centralised energy centre, 47 boreholes to extract renewable geothermal energy and individual heat interface units for the houses. Once construction at the 27-acre site is completed, Last Mile Heat will adopt and manage the network.
The development is part of the Cardiff Living partnership between Wates Residential and Cardiff Council. The total network comprises 115 open-market homes, 120 council homes and a community hub, café, and medical centre.
