Heritage site celebrates new EV charging station

Heritage site Dean Clough has seen its new electric vehicle fast-charging stations power e-miles totalling over three times the circumference of the Earth in just two months of operation, according to Mer’s data.
A new 500kVA connection with eight ultra rapid charging bays was installed at the 22 acre site earlier this year. Dean Clough says it is currently the only location in Calderdale to offer superfast charging (the nearest alternative being Hartshead Moor service station on the M62 motorway).
According to Mer, which operates the charge points, Dean Clough is already within the top five highest-performing sites on its network of 148 locations. The site’s car parks have 1,300 spaces and it hosts events including the forthcoming Calderdale Pride Festival where over 20,000 people are expected.
Jeremy Hall, Chairman and Managing Director at Dean Clough, said, “We are delighted to see that our superfast charging hub is being so well utilised, not just by our occupiers, but also the local residential community and users from as far as Leeds.
The site’s collection of 16 mill buildings were constructed between 1840 and 1870.
