Sizewell C has awarded a contract to Arabelle Solutions for supply and installation of two complete turbine islands. Arabelle Solutions is part of EDF Group, and it is currently installing the first of two turbine islands at Hinkley Point C. The company said that by replicating Hinkley Point C, Sizewell C will reduce the number of engineering hours required to design its turbine halls, allowing the components to be manufactured early and placed into storage, which would reduce risk and help the project stay on schedule. Preliminary construction work at Sizewell C began in January 2024
Each turbine hall at Sizewell C will include an Arabelle steam turbine with a 75-inch last-stage blade – the longest such blades ever made.
Aggreko has secured a multi-year contract as the primary power provider for the project. As a tier 1 supplier for the project, Aggreko will provide a low-emission, low-noise multi-megawatt power package. This includes generators incorporating batteries, with remote monitoring transmitting real-time data to ensure optimum equipment performance.
