Northern PowerGrid seeks flexibility tenders by February

Northern PowerGrid is seeking expressions of interest for flexibility services for next winter.

It is seeking around 14MW of response from nine locations in its area. The network wants response in the Newcastle, York, Bridlington, Hull, Goole, Scunthorpe, Sheffiled Huddersfield and Dewsbury areas and it has asked for expressions of interest and data about the response offered by 25 February. It is using Piclo to collect the data (giving Piclo a full suite of DNOs on its platform).

NPG will evaluate the bids in March and decide whether to use an auction, tender or other process in April 2019. Whatever the process, it will notify winning suppliers in July and it will be utilising their services from October 2019.

Although the company was seeking bids for specific areas it is inviting flexibility providers in other areas to get in touch because over the next decade NPG expects its response requirement to triple. It expects be seeking response of up to 40MW in 2023-2030.
